Tompolo Denies Issuing Ultimatum To Federal Government Over Nnamdi Kanu

High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has denied reports claiming he issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement dated 26 October 2025 and signed by his media consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo said he had no involvement in the purported publication and disassociated himself completely from it.

“High Chief Ekpemupolo has nothing to do with the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. It is clearly the handiwork of Tompolo’s enemies, who are trying to discredit and pull him down because of his stance against illegal crude oil activities in the Niger Delta,” the statement read.

The statement added that those behind the false report would not succeed, noting that Tompolo remains committed to eliminating illegal oil operations in the region.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the current administration, Tompolo assured President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of his continued support for the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We wish to reassure the Federal Government, led by our dynamic President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that Tompolo is with him and will continue to support his administration,” the statement said.

It further stated that Tompolo stands by his earlier endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term and is actively working towards its realisation.

The statement urged the Federal Government and the general public to disregard the publication in its entirety.
