Tinubu Receives Full Military Honours In Brazil

President Bola Tinubu on Monday was accorded full military honours during his official visit to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Planalto Palace in Brasília.

A colourful guard of honour welcomed the Nigerian leader before President da Silva formally received him, exchanged pleasantries, introduced his ministers, and posed for photographs. Tinubu reciprocated by presenting his delegation, made up largely of cabinet members.

Following the ceremony, both leaders held a private meeting and later engaged in bilateral talks alongside their ministers, which culminated in the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

Tinubu, who arrived in Brasília earlier in the day, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties with Brazil. He described the meeting as a strategic moment in relations between both nations.

“Today’s engagement marks the renewal of the historic relationship between Nigeria and Brazil. I look forward to working with President Lula to deepen cooperation in agriculture, energy, trade, and culture, towards building a future of shared prosperity,” Tinubu said in a post on his official X handle.

As part of his visit, the President is also scheduled to attend the Nigeria-Brazil Business Forum, a key event aimed at boosting economic partnership between the two countries.
