President Bola Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to South Africa and Angola as he awaits further security briefings on the abducted Kebbi schoolgirls and the attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State.
In a statement on Wednesday, Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, said the President also ordered additional security deployment to Eruku and Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara.
Tinubu further directed the police to pursue the bandits who attacked worshippers at the Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the President was scheduled to depart Abuja on Wednesday for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Johannesburg and later attend the AU-EU Summit in Luanda, Angola.
However, Onanuga said the trip was suspended due to the security breaches in Kebbi and the fatal attack in Kwara.
According to him, the President is also awaiting reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, as well as from security agencies investigating the incident in Kwara.
Tinubu reiterated his directive to security agencies to secure the release of the 24 abducted schoolgirls and ensure their safe return home.
