Tinubu Poised For 2027 Victory Amid Defections, Says APC North Central Chairman

The North Central Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, citing a surge of prominent political figures defecting to the ruling party.

Speaking in Minna at the weekend during the launch of campaigns for the 1 November local government elections in Niger State, Rijau said both President Tinubu and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago are well positioned to win second terms.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago will win their second-term elections in 2027, given the recent wave of high-profile defections to the APC,” he said.

Rijau noted that the party currently governs 25 states and holds the majority in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. He added that more politicians are expected to join the party in the coming months.

He urged APC leaders in Niger State to ensure inclusiveness and unity within the party to secure victory in the 2027 polls.

Also addressing the event, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago said both the federal and state governments were working closely to resolve lingering security challenges in Niger State and across the country. He expressed optimism that peace and stability would soon be achieved to foster development.

Governor Bago called on voters to turn out in large numbers for the 1 November 2025 local government elections, describing it as a step towards ensuring the party’s success in 2027.
