Tinubu Pays Tribute To Kenya’s Late Opposition Icon Raila Odinga

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has joined global leaders in mourning the passing of Kenya’s former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, describing him as “a towering figure whose impact transcended borders.”

In a statement released on Wednesday by his media adviser, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Odinga’s decades-long struggle for democracy and justice made him one of Africa’s most respected political figures.

“Raila Odinga’s lifelong commitment to fairness, reform, and unity will remain a beacon of hope for generations across the continent,” Tinubu said. “His resilience and faith in the power of the people defined his leadership and inspired movements for change throughout Africa.”

Tinubu lauded the late leader’s Pan-African vision and his efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and regional cooperation.

“We share Kenya’s grief and stand in solidarity with President William Ruto and the Kenyan people as they mourn this irreplaceable loss,” the Nigerian president said. “May Odinga’s enduring spirit continue to guide Kenya towards peace, harmony, and progress.”

Odinga, who served as Kenya’s Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013, was widely regarded as a champion of democracy and reform, leaving behind a legacy that reshaped Kenya’s political landscape.
