Tinubu Lauded For Strengthening Nigeria’s Electoral Body With New INEC Headquarters

President Bola Tinubu has received commendation from the Democratic Front (TDF) for his administration’s plans to construct a new headquarters for Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which the group described as a significant stride toward democratic consolidation.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by TDF’s leaders, Malam Danjuma Muhammad and Chief Wale Adedayo, the organisation welcomed the initiative as a testament to Tinubu’s commitment to reinforcing the credibility and independence of the country’s electoral body.

“The decision to build a modern facility for INEC represents a deep investment in Nigeria’s democratic future,” the TDF stated. “It reflects a government willing to uphold the integrity of the vote and the institutions that protect it.”

The group further commended Tinubu for recognising the contributions of democracy advocates without including himself, calling the gesture a rare display of modesty and leadership. They also pointed to recent gubernatorial elections in several states, including Edo and Imo, as evidence of improved electoral transparency and reduced interference.

According to the TDF, the reforms initiated under the Tinubu administration—ranging from institutional support to economic policy shifts—are starting to yield positive results. The group urged Nigerians to rally behind the President’s vision, citing signs of democratic deepening and economic recovery.
