Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has pledged continued investment in rural infrastructure as a key tool to drive inclusive economic development and reduce regional disparities.
While inaugurating a newly completed 15-kilometre road connecting the A2 Junction to Pai community in Abuja’s Kwali Area Council on Monday, Tinubu described the project as both symbolic and strategic. “Infrastructure must serve the people. This road is a bridge to opportunity—for farmers, traders, and students alike,” he said.
The project is one of 17 completed initiatives delivered by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in celebration of Tinubu’s second year in office. It is already enhancing transport links for remote communities previously isolated by poor access.
Tinubu thanked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for his proactive leadership, noting, “You are thinking about the people. Your actions reflect the government’s goal to uplift rural communities.”
Minister Wike explained that the project was born out of necessity after it became apparent that another contracted road from Pai to Gumani could not be accessed without the A2–Pai segment. He assured that the remaining road sections—Pai to Gumani and Gumani to Yangoje—are under construction and will be completed by year-end.
Local leaders also expressed appreciation. The Village Head of Pai, Alhaji Sani Abubakar, said the new road had already begun easing transport challenges and facilitating trade in agricultural produce.
