Tinubu Hints At Political Realignment, Welcome Wike’s To Join APC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the infrastructural achievements of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, while suggesting a possible political shift in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Wednesday at the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 in Katampe District, Abuja, President Tinubu praised Wike’s leadership for completing the major road project within just eight months. Though Wike remains a key figure in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the President left the door open for a future alliance.

“He is not a member of my party—at least not yet,” Tinubu remarked. “But should he decide to join the progressives, we will welcome him. And together, we’ll sing: ‘As e dey pain dem, e dey sweet us.’”

The newly inaugurated road, connecting critical zones of Abuja, is expected to ease traffic congestion and support economic activity across the capital city.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure, describing it as essential for economic development. “Infrastructure is not a luxury,” he said. “It is the foundation of growth, national competitiveness, and social cohesion.”

Wike, in his response, expressed gratitude to the President for his trust and support, while taking aim at critics of the administration. “Some people were simply born not to be happy. No matter what you do, they’ll criticise,” he said.

The FCT Minister credited President Tinubu’s payment policies for the swift completion of projects. “Before now, contractors wouldn’t start without an advance. Today, they compete to get the job because they know they’ll be paid on time,” Wike said.

Mocking opposition coalitions, Wike claimed the government’s performance had left its detractors politically rudderless. “They see progress on every news channel—NTA, TVC, Channels—it’s all about Tinubu’s success. They can’t escape it,” he said.
