The Nigerian government has spotlighted a series of high-impact projects in the South-East region, pledging continued investment in infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture and economic growth.
Speaking at a public enlightenment forum in Abakaliki on Wednesday, Lauretta Bakare, Head of the Federal Information Centre in Ebonyi, said the projects formed part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda — a policy framework aimed at improving social amenities and fostering inclusive development.
The initiatives highlighted included a state-of-the-art Cancer Screening Centre at David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, a cassava-to-bioethanol plant in Enugu, a 100-bed Mother and Child Care Centre in Imo, and the 118.8km coastal highway connecting Calabar with Abuja through Ebonyi, Benue and Nasarawa.
Bakare said the Ministry of Information and National Orientation was tasked with making citizens aware of the benefits and long-term impact of these projects, noting that federal investments were designed to reach “all segments of society”.
She urged public support for the administration’s policies, arguing that success in the South-East could provide a model for accelerated development across Africa.
