President Bola Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday after a 10-day working visit to Lagos that combined diplomacy, investment talks, and national celebrations.
The President, who arrived in Lagos on 26 September after attending the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, held a series of meetings with major investors including Global Infrastructure Partners CEO, Bayo Ogunlesi, and Metis Capital Partners Chairman, Hakeem Belo-Osagie.
He also received Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), alongside Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, where he reiterated plans to develop Nigeria’s maritime sector as a sustainable alternative to oil revenues.
Marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, Tinubu visited Imo State to inaugurate key infrastructure projects by Governor Hope Uzodimma and launch the governor’s book chronicling 10 years of APC governance. On 1 October, he delivered his Independence Day address from the historic Dodan Barracks in Lagos and later opened the refurbished National Theatre, renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.
The President ended his visit in Jos, Plateau State, where he attended the funeral of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of APC Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda. Paying tribute, he stressed his administration’s commitment to religious harmony and national cohesion.
