Tinubu Confirms Nigeria Will Remain a Multi-Party Democracy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has firmly stated that Nigeria will not transition into a one-party state during his tenure.

In a speech delivered to a joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja for Democracy Day celebrations on Thursday, Tinubu indicated that he would not recommend that opposition parties consolidate their efforts.

He noted, “It is more beneficial to see them (opposition parties) in such chaos.”

Tinubu further asserted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be committing political malpractice if it were to bar opposition members from joining the party.

“Nigeria will not become a one-party state. This is not a future possibility. Nonetheless, it would be political malpractice to close our doors to those who wish to become part of the APC,” he remarked.
