Tinubu Commissions Major Infrastructure In Nasarawa, Hails Governor’s Fiscal Discipline

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a ₦16 billion flyover and underpass project in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, as part of his first official visit to the state since taking office in 2023.

The flyover-underpass interchange, covering one kilometre, is the first of several infrastructure projects commissioned during the President’s one-day working visit.

Speaking at the event, President Tinubu commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for the efficient use of public funds and for implementing infrastructure that directly benefits the people. “Thank you. May God bless this state. I officially commission this project,” he said.

Governor Sule, in his welcome address, celebrated the completion of the interchange as a symbol of what can be achieved through disciplined financial governance and federal support. “This is a testament to our joint commitment to development. The project was completed in under a year, fully paid for—without borrowing a single naira—thanks to your economic reforms,” he told the President.

The newly completed interchange has been named the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Interchange in honour of the President’s visit and leadership.

Other projects included in the President’s itinerary for the day are the dualised 5km Shendam Road, a newly constructed State Secretariat, agricultural machinery including tractors, operational vehicles for security services, and official vehicles for traditional rulers.

This occasion marks President Tinubu’s first visit to Nasarawa State since his inauguration, and is seen as a significant endorsement of the state’s infrastructure and governance strides under Governor Sule.
