President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called upon the nation’s security leaders and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to take decisive action against those behind the recent killings in Benue State.
This directive was issued during his visit to Makurdi, the capital, on Wednesday, amidst a troubling wave of violence in the North-Central area.
“Police, I trust your forces are on high alert for any information. How is it that no one has been apprehended? I expect swift action against these criminals,” Tinubu said during a meeting with stakeholders at the Benue Government House.
Further addressing the military and intelligence heads, he added, “Christopher (the Chief of Defence Staff), your contributions are recognised. I see your commitment; don’t let exhaustion deter you. Oloyede and the Air Marshal, we value your efforts, but we must remain attentive and capture those responsible.
“DG NIA, DG SSS, refine your intelligence operations to ensure such tragedies do not happen again.”
