Tinubu Celebrates Major Infrastructure Milestone With New Road Link

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has commended the transformation underway in the nation’s capital, describing the improvements as a reflection of his administration’s economic and social development agenda.

Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu inaugurated a newly completed interchange in Abuja, connecting Wole Soyinka Way with the Murtala Mohammed Expressway. It is the 11th infrastructure project to be commissioned in a series of 17 to mark the government’s second anniversary in office.

“The changes taking place in the FCT are unmistakable. We are proud of the progress,” Tinubu said, describing the interchange as key to reducing traffic congestion and enhancing commercial activity in the city.

The President said that his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda hinges on robust infrastructure, which he called “essential to economic vitality and public welfare.”

He praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his team for spearheading the improvements. “This interchange is not only an engineering feat; it is a symbol of our vision for a modern, efficient and inclusive capital,” he stated.

Wike noted that the project, originally awarded in 2020, had stalled until the current government revived and completed it. He credited the President’s leadership for providing the momentum necessary to see projects through to completion.

“There’s no magic. It’s all about leadership and follow-through. President Tinubu has made it a priority to ensure impactful projects are completed for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Wike said.

FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, added that the interchange underscores the government’s focus on improving mobility in the capital and easing daily commutes.

The project forms part of broader efforts to enhance infrastructure across Nigeria’s rapidly urbanising cities.
