Tinubu Approves Two-Year Extension For Surveyor-General Adebomehin

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a two-year extension of tenure for the Surveyor-General of the Federation, Mr. AbuduGaniyu Adebomehin.

The extension, which takes effect from January 5, 2026, was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr. Bayo Onanuga.

According to the statement, the decision follows the recent transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) to the Presidency.

It added that Adebomehin had initiated key reforms in the nation’s geospatial data systems—reforms President Tinubu wants to see fully implemented.

The President tasked Adebomehin with consolidating these reforms during the extension period, while prioritising critical national areas such as land administration, coordination of highway infrastructure, erosion control, and other strategic programmes.

Adebomehin was first appointed as Surveyor-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari, with effect from January 5, 2022.
