Suspect Killed in Seven-hour Gunfight as Police Raid Criminal Hideout in Anambra

A police-led Joint Task Force (JTF) in Anambra State has successfully raided a suspected criminal hideout in Agulu-Ezechukwu, resulting in the death of one suspect. The operation uncovered a range of stolen items, including an ash Toyota Sienna (Reg. No. EKY 03 FF), an unregistered white Mazda Hilux, a motorcycle, and various mechanical tools.

Additionally, household goods such as pots, gallons, groceries, mattresses, and clothing were seized along with other incriminating materials.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the joint operation, which included members from the State Security Service, the army, navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Anambra Vigilance Group, began early Thursday morning.

Ikenga stated, “The identified criminal camp was destroyed, and one armed hoodlum was neutralised during the raid in Agulu-Ezechukwu. The recovered vehicles and items are believed to be stolen or linked to criminal activities.”

The police force engaged in a coordinated seven-hour gun battle with the suspects, and efforts are ongoing to track down additional fugitives, following blood trails from the scene.
