Super Falcons Return Home To Hero’s Welcome After WAFCON Victory

Nigeria’s Super Falcons received a warm hero’s welcome on Monday following their historic 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph, where they defeated host nation Morocco in a thrilling final.

The champions touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at exactly 2:45 p.m. via a chartered flight.

They were welcomed by a delegation of dignitaries, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, and Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris Malagi.

Speaking to the press, Keyamo commended the team’s determination and national pride.

“The girls have an ‘I can do’ spirit, which is typical of every Nigerian. We need this same attitude in every sector,” he said.
“We are proud to welcome the champions who were incredible throughout the tournament. We can’t wait for President Bola Tinubu to receive them.”

Following their arrival, the Super Falcons proceeded to the Presidential Villa, where they are expected to be officially honoured for their achievement.
