Sokoto Assembly Endorses ₦38.8bn Budget Adjustment For Infrastructure, Services

Lawmakers in Sokoto State have cleared a ₦38.8 billion adjustment to the 2025 budget, following a request by Governor Ahmed Aliyu to reallocate funds toward priority projects.

Vice Chairman of the Finance and Appropriation Committee, Kabiru Ibrahim, told colleagues that the revised allocations would strengthen infrastructure delivery and expand social services.

Majority Leader Bello Idris said the move reflected “the realities on the ground,” while Abubakar Shehu called it proof of government’s resolve to improve living standards. The motion was adopted unanimously by voice vote, Speaker Tukur Bala announced.

In addition to the virement, the Assembly amended two education laws, updating frameworks for the College of Nursing Science, Tambuwal, and the Sultan Abdulrahman College of Health Technology, Gwadabawa.
