Senator Aishatu Dahiru-Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, has extended her heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones and property in the recent flood disaster that struck Yola, Adamawa State.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the flood, which occurred on Sunday, claimed several lives and destroyed properties, including homes, livestock, and farmlands.
In a statement issued in Yola, Senator Binani described the incident as devastating and pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to find lasting solutions to prevent similar occurrences.
“My heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by the devastating floods in Yola. The loss of lives, homes, and the displacement of families is a heartbreaking situation, and I share in the grief of our community during this difficult time,” she said.
The senator, who is also a philanthropist, emphasized the need for proactive engagement with communities across the state to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen flood resilience strategies.
“We are committed to further connecting with all our communities in the state to assess the vulnerabilities within them and continue to advance solutions that will mitigate such occurrences.”
She assured that she would continue to engage and advise relevant government agencies and humanitarian organizations to ensure prompt and effective support for displaced persons.

Senator Binani also highlighted the health risks associated with floods, especially the increased likelihood of encounters with dangerous reptiles and disease outbreaks, and called on stakeholders to remain vigilant.
“All stakeholders must be collectively concerned about the health effects of such floods, including the dangers associated with the release of harmful reptiles in such circumstances.”
She urged residents to stay alert and comply with safety instructions issued by authorities.
“I urge everyone to take necessary precautions and to cooperate with the authorities as they work to manage the situation and prevent further loss of life or property.”
Reaffirming her commitment to the people of Yola, Senator Binani concluded:
