Senate Pledges Funding Support For CCB, CCT To Boost Anti-Corruption Drive

The Senate has pledged legislative action to ensure the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) receive adequate funding. Sen. Neda Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition, made the commitment on Tuesday in Abuja during a review of the CCB’s new Online Assets and Liabilities Declaration System (ALDS).

Imasuen expressed concern over the agencies’ historically low funding, which he said has limited their effectiveness in fighting corruption. He praised the CCB Chairman for championing the ALDS and proposed that both agencies draw funds directly from the Federation Account’s “front line charge” to guarantee resources and enhance autonomy.

CCB Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Bello described the system as a major step in modernizing the fight against graft, replacing decades of cumbersome manual processes and ushering in a new era of accountability. Imasuen vowed to champion the funding initiative with a target of full implementation by 2026.
