Senate Confirms Retired Gen. Christopher Musa As Defence Minister

The Nigerian Senate has confirmed retired General Christopher Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, as the country’s new Minister of Defence.

Musa was approved on Wednesday via a voice vote following hours of rigorous questioning in the Committee of the Whole, where senators explored his experience and vision for the ministry.

The retired general, who stepped down from the military only 40 days ago, was nominated by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday, with the nomination transmitted promptly to the Senate for consideration.

Further details regarding Musa’s appointment and priorities as Defence Minister are expected to be released.
