Security Heightened And Traffic Diverted In Nasarawa Ahead President’s Visit

The Nigerian Police Force has announced a series of traffic diversions and night-time movement restrictions in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, in preparation for an official visit by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The restrictions will be enforced from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 24 June, until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 25 June, according to SP Rahman Nansel, the police spokesperson for the state.

According to the advisory, traffic from the Akwanga side will be redirected at Mechanic Village, Azuba, through Akurba and Mararaba Akunza, to link with Makurdi Road. Likewise, vehicles entering from Makurdi will be diverted at Bukan Kwato–Mararaba Akunza, and will reconnect via Akurba and Azuba.

The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, has given assurances that security has been strengthened along the designated routes to ensure commuter safety and maintain order throughout the President’s stay.

“The diversions are purely precautionary and designed to support a smooth presidential engagement,” said Nansel. “We appeal to citizens for their understanding and patience during this time.”

The police expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and extended appreciation to the public for their cooperation and support during the security operation.
