The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has elected Hon. Gloria Sarauniya Usman as its new State Secretary in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), marking a fresh chapter in the party’s leadership drive.
Her emergence was confirmed during the SDP State Congress held on Tuesday, 6 May 2025, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. The event was peaceful and well-attended by delegates from across the FCT.
Hon. Gloria’s election stands out as a testament to the party’s renewed focus on inclusive leadership and grassroots empowerment. She is well-known for her track record in political mobilisation and community engagement.
Before joining the SDP, she served as Deputy National Contact and Mobilisation Secretary of the PDP Professional and Business Group (PDPPBG), where she led efforts to engage professionals and expand grassroots outreach.
Party members have lauded her as a tireless organiser and a champion of women and youth in politics. “She’s not just a politician; she’s a movement builder,” said one delegate. “Her dedication to the party, even in difficult times, is unmatched.”
Gloria’s leadership is expected to strengthen the party’s internal structure and reinvigorate strategic planning across the six area councils of the FCT.
