The authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have announced that the 2025 Arafah sermon will be broadcast live in Hausa, Yoruba, Fulani, and an additional 34 languages.
This initiative will enable pilgrims and listeners around the globe to follow the sermon in their native tongue, as stated by the authorities.
“The Hajj Khutbah 1446 will be translated into 34 languages on Thursday, 9 Dhul Hijjah 1446,” the announcement reads.
“The languages include Arabic, Urdu, English, French, Indonesian, Persian (Farsi), Hausa, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Bengali, Turkish, Malay (Bahasa Melayu), Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Filipino (Tagalog), Amharic (Ethiopia), Bosnian, Hindi, Dutch, Thai, Malayalam, Swahili, Pashto, Tamil, Azerbaijani, Swedish, Uzbek, Albanian, Fulani (Fula), Somali, Rohingya, and Yoruba.”
The broadcast aims to disseminate Islam’s message of tolerance to a global audience in their native languages, fostering improved communication between Muslims and non-Muslims.
The Kingdom announced on 27 May the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, designating 5 June as the Day of Arafat, while Eid-el-Kabir is set to be celebrated on 6 June.
