Saudi Arabia Hails ‘Flawless’ Hajj Season with Over 1.6 Million Pilgrims

Saudi Arabia has announced the successful and incident-free completion of the 1446 Hajj pilgrimage, with more than 1.67 million Muslims from across the globe participating in the sacred journey to the holy sites in Makkah.

Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region, declared the Hajj “a triumph of planning, unity, and faith,” highlighting that no major security, health, or service disruptions were recorded during the pilgrimage.

According to official figures, 1,506,576 pilgrims travelled from abroad, while 166,654 domestic pilgrims—including Saudi citizens and foreign residents—also joined the rites. The total included 877,841 men and 795,389 women.

“The success of Hajj 1446 is a testament to the leadership’s vision and the dedication of thousands of workers and volunteers across health, security, and logistical sectors,” Prince Saud said during his closing address. He commended the pilgrims for their discipline and adherence to safety protocols.

He extended his congratulations to King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their instrumental role in supporting the pilgrimage. “Thanks to the guidance and leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, the pilgrimage was conducted with complete serenity and safety,” he said.

Looking ahead, Prince Saud confirmed that preparations for the 1447 Hajj season would begin immediately, underlining the Kingdom’s longstanding commitment to serving Islam’s holiest sites and ensuring a seamless experience for all future pilgrims.

The smooth completion of this year’s pilgrimage reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as a key steward of the Islamic world’s most sacred traditions.
