Gov Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has described the state as a safe haven for investments in the oil and gas sector, emphasizing its crucial role in the region’s economic development.
Speaking at an oil and gas summit in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Fubara, represented by Dr. Benibo Anabraba, the Secretary to the State Government, said his administration continues to collaborate with the Federal Government and host communities to safeguard the state’s natural assets.
He noted that Rivers hosts numerous national and multinational oil and gas companies, making it a prime destination for strategic investment. “Our state is the centre of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon industry, generating over 40 per cent of the nation’s revenue. Our government remains committed to protecting these resources alongside security agencies and communities,” he said.
Mr. Emeka Ugwu-Ozu, Founder of the Nigeria Entrepreneurship Summit and Honours Foundation, said the summit offered stakeholders an opportunity to brainstorm and suggest best practices for local players, aiming to achieve outcomes comparable to global standards.
