The House of Representatives on Tuesday observed a one-minute silence in honour of the late son and grandson of the Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Abba Moro.
The tribute followed a motion moved by Rep. Philip Agbese (APC–Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo) during plenary, which was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
Lawmakers stood in silence and prayed for the repose of the souls of Victor Moro and his grandson, Abba Moro Jr.
Tragic Losses
Victor Moro, the senator’s son, died on Oct. 18 in a motor accident along the Mararaba axis in Nasarawa State.
His grandson, Abba Moro Jr., passed away just days earlier.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Victor had recently returned from Turkey after completing his studies and was preparing to commence his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
Condolences and Solidarity
In a letter dated Oct. 20 to the Speaker of the House, Rep. Agbese described the double loss as “heartbreaking,” adding that it had plunged the Moro family and the Benue South Senatorial District into deep mourning.
He described Sen. Abba Moro as “a symbol of dedication and leadership,” noting that the House’s gesture was a show of compassion and solidarity with a colleague in a time of deep personal loss.
