President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Mrs Leila Fowler, a trailblazing lawyer and educationist who founded the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos. She was 92.
In a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu hailed Fowler as a national figure whose contributions reshaped female education in Nigeria.
“Through her vision, she created a platform for thousands of young women to excel academically and pursue their dreams. Her work will remain a beacon of inspiration for generations to come,” the President said.
Mrs Fowler, revered as the Yeye Mofin of Lagos, was also the mother of former Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) Chairman, Babatunde Fowler.
Describing her death as a profound loss, Tinubu noted that her influence extended beyond her family to the wider education sector and Nigerian society. He extended condolences to her relatives, the college community, and the people of Lagos State, while praying for comfort for all those in mourning.
