President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday wrapped up a high-level state visit to Brazil, returning to Abuja after three days of intense diplomatic and economic engagements.
His departure from Brasília International Airport was marked by a brief ceremony featuring a guard of honour and farewells from senior Brazilian and Nigerian officials.
Since arriving on August 25, Tinubu met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, where both leaders pledged to expand cooperation in strategic areas. Their discussions produced five Memoranda of Understanding covering aviation, foreign policy, agriculture, and science and technology—sectors Tinubu said were central to his administration’s growth agenda.
Beyond diplomacy, the president engaged Brazil’s financial regulators and praised the Nigerian stock market’s resilience as a sign of renewed investor confidence. He also encouraged members of the Nigerian diaspora in Brazil to play a more active role in national development.
With this visit, both countries signaled a renewed commitment to strengthening trade, education, and innovation partnerships.
