President Bola Tinubu has appointed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as the Renewed Hope Ambassador ahead of the national launch of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme. The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
In addition to this role, Uzodimma has been named Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and Mobilisation. The appointment, which takes immediate effect, tasks the governor with working alongside All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and other governors to promote the administration’s programmes nationwide.
As Renewed Hope Ambassador, Uzodimma — who also chairs the Progressive Governors’ Forum — is expected to foster harmony, inclusiveness, and strategic coordination across party structures while driving public engagement and mobilisation efforts. APC governors will also serve as Ambassadors of Hope in their respective states.
President Tinubu urged Uzodimma and his colleagues to intensify efforts in communicating the administration’s achievements since 2023 and ensure Nigerians are informed about progress across all sectors.
“Ensure that Nigerians understand the progress being recorded across sectors,” the president said.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu’s administration, which assumed office in May 2023 with a reform-focused agenda, has delivered notable economic outcomes. Inflation has eased for seven consecutive months, reaching 16.05 per cent in October, while the exchange rate has stabilised. Foreign reserves have risen to over $46 billion, up from $32 billion at the start of the administration.
“Investor confidence has returned, boosting foreign direct and portfolio inflows, with the oil and gas sector among the key beneficiaries,” Onanuga said.
“The stock market is experiencing record performance, and diversification efforts are advancing, particularly in solid minerals.”
Onanuga also highlighted social sector achievements, noting that over 700,000 students have benefited from the government’s expanded educational loan scheme and that passport processing times have been reduced to less than a week.
