Presidency Rejects Claims Of George Akume’s Exit As SGF

The Nigerian government has refuted media reports alleging that Senator George Akume has been replaced as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

In an official statement issued on Sunday, Presidential Spokesperson Mr Bayo Onanuga labelled the reports as “untrue” and the product of “agents of mischief”.

“President Tinubu, who is presently on an official visit to Saint Lucia, has not appointed anyone new to the post,” Onanuga said. “Sen. George Akume remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.”

He urged the public to disregard the speculation, which had suggested Akume stepped down to assume the role of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Presidency reaffirmed its stance against misinformation, describing the claims as baseless attempts to sow confusion.
