The police on Monday, charged a Point of Sale (POS) operator, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, for allegedly stealing her employer’s money.
The defendant, Arike Akinlabi, 25, is standing trial on charges bordering on stealing.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Owolabi told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Jan. 1 and Jan.30, at the Oni and Sons area of Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant who worked as a POS operator for one Kolnas Investment Ltd, stole the sum of N202, 800, belonging to the company, represented by one Mr Muritala Kolade.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was eventually arrested and charged to court, following investigation by the police.
The offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 11, for hearing.
