Police Rescue Three Kidnapped Children, Arrest Three Suspects In Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has rescued three kidnapped minors and arrested three suspects linked to the abduction.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna.

He said the victims — Aslam Umar Lukman (14), Suleiman Umar Tanko (12), and Aliyu Umar Tanko (10) — were rescued on Calabar Road, Sabon Layi, Kurmin Mashi, in Kaduna North Local Government Area.

According to him, the incident began on Monday around 1:45 p.m. when the children were abducted, and their captors demanded a ransom of ₦50 million.

“Upon receipt of the distress report at about 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, operatives of the command, through strategic intelligence gathering and tactical communication, lured one of the suspects, Richard Philip, the kingpin, out of their hideout and arrested him,” Hassan said.

He added that during interrogation, Philip confessed to the crime and disclosed that he conspired with two others — Ibrahim Ma’aruf (18) and Abubakar Sadiq (15) — to abduct the children and hide them at his residence.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the police stormed the location, arrested the accomplices, and rescued the three victims unhurt. The rescued children have since been reunited with their family by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Muhammad Rabiu,” Hassan stated.

Rabiu, while commending the operatives, reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property. He also urged parents to be vigilant, assuring that all forms of criminality would be met with decisive action.
