Police Detain Robbery Suspect, Recover Vehicles, Others In Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra has detained 24-year-old suspected vehicle robber, Chidi Nwoye, and recovered some stolen vehicles and other exhibits in Obosi Community near Onitsha.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Spokesman of the Command disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Awka.

Ikenga said that operatives attached to the Isiowulu Police Division, working in collaboration with local vigilante group, apprehended the suspect on Aug. 22.

He listed the items recovered from the suspect to include: one Hyundai Tucson vehicle with registration number PH 725 AAA, and one tricycle with registration number NSH 051 UD.

Other items recovered were eight assorted mobile phones, one black faze cap bearing “AVG Special Force”, one battle axe and one drivers license,

Also recovered were two bunches of keys, four master keys, two Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, one Permanent Voter Card (PVC), one vehicle tracking device and one sensor among others.

Ikenga explained  that the suspect was intercepted on Minaj Road in Obosi community, while operating on a stolen tricycle.

According to him, upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to using master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles from their parked positions.

“The operatives have extended investigations to the suspect’s den and that of his accomplices for possible recovery of additional stolen exhibits,” he said.

He urged members of the public, especially those whose items were recently stolen as mentioned above, to visit Isiowulu Police Station for possible identification and recovery.

He pointed out that the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation on the matter. (NAN)
