The Police Command in Bauchi State says it has recorded significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime, with the detention of nine suspects in three separate operations within the past week.
The Command’s Spokesman, CSP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this to newsmen on Saturday in Bauchi.
According to him, the first incident occurred on Aug. 14, when operatives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects, aged 24 and 22, in possession of 10 stolen cattle around Maikwangi village, Ningi Local Government Area.
“The suspects confessed to conspiring and rustling the cattle from a Fulani settlement in the area a month earlier.
“In a separate operation on Aug. 16, police responded to a distress call from residents of Madina Quarters and Fadaman Mada, where about 20 armed robbers attacked multiple households between 2:00 am and 3:00 am,” he said
Wakil added that the criminals carted away 14 mobile phones, two televisions, clothing items, and ₦100,000 cash.
“Swift police response led to the arrest of five suspects aged between 18 and 35.
“Recovered items included a locally made revolver, a short Dane gun, live ammunition, machetes, and other weapons.
“Later that day, around 11:47 pm, police operatives apprehended two additional suspects, aged 22 and 21, for vandalism of electrical infrastructure at Dan-Dango village,” the spokesman said.
Wakil further said the suspects were caught with quantities of stolen aluminum wires, which they confessed to removing from electricity poles for resale..
“Investigations revealed that they had been engaging in such acts for some time, with two accomplices still at large,”he said
The command commended the operatives for their swift actions and reassured the public of the command’s commitment to tackling crime through intelligence-driven operations.
Wakil further urged residents to remain vigilant and to continue cooperating with security agencies in order to ensure safer communities across the state.(NAN)
