Police Deny Wrongdoing In Sultan Road Fatality, Call For Witnesses

The Kaduna State Police Command has rejected claims that its officers were responsible for the death of a graduate in an accident on Sultan Road, describing such reports as inaccurate.

Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan said in a statement on Monday that the incident, which took place on 29 August, involved Mobile Police officers on escort duty from outside the state.

He explained that a speeding motorcyclist collided with the rear of the police pick-up van, throwing his passenger to the ground. While the rider fled the scene, the officers rushed the injured passenger to hospital and reported the incident to authorities.

“Despite efforts to save his life, the victim was later confirmed dead while receiving treatment,” Hassan said.

The command confirmed that the officers had been recalled for further investigation. Hassan urged the public to disregard misleading reports and called on witnesses or anyone with credible information on the identity or whereabouts of the motorcyclist to assist investigators in ensuring justice is served.
