The Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu Kibiya, has received more than 50 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kibiya Ward, Kibiya Local Government Area, into the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano by Balarabe Kiru, Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
Kibiya welcomed the new members, citing Governor Abba Yusuf’s commitment to good governance and development projects across the state.
He noted that the Yusuf administration had implemented numerous projects in health, education, infrastructure, empowerment, and agriculture, all of which have positively impacted the lives of Kano residents.
The commissioner assured the defectors of the NNPP’s full support and urged them to remain steadfast in promoting and sustaining the administration’s achievements.
Yakubu Alhaji, leader of the defectors, said they decided to join the NNPP in recognition of the party’s dedication to development and people-oriented governance under Governor Yusuf’s leadership.
He alleged that the APC had failed to deliver meaningful projects in Kibiya over the past eight years, describing its policies as self-serving rather than people-focused.
Also speaking, Auwalu Sarki, Councillor of Kibiya Ward, revealed that more groups were preparing to join the NNPP, commending Commissioner Kibiya’s efforts in promoting the party and advancing the governor’s policies in the local government area.
Sarki said the commissioner’s grassroots engagement had been instrumental in attracting new supporters to the NNPP.
