Orji Kalu Mourns Sen Okey Ezea

Former Senate Chief Whip, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, has mourned the death of Sen. Okey Ezea, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District until his passing on Tuesday night.

In a condolence message issued on Wednesday in Abuja, Kalu said he received the news with profound shock and deep sorrow, describing Ezea’s death as a painful blow.

“Ezea was more than a fellow legislator; he was a friend with whom I shared a close and sincere bond,” Kalu said.

He noted that their friendship extended beyond legislative duties and was strengthened by their shared Catholic faith.

“We often celebrated Mass together in the same chapel. Those quiet moments of prayer and spiritual communion remain etched in my heart,” he said.

Kalu described the late senator as a man of humility, integrity and steadfastness in faith, adding that his devotion to God and his passion for service defined him.

The former Chief Whip also extended condolences to the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, saying the Red Chamber had lost a principled voice with courage and conviction.

He further condoled with Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, and the people of Enugu, particularly the Nsukka community, noting that Ezea served them with pride, dedication and unwavering commitment.

“His death is a profound loss not just to Nsukka but to our nation,” he added.

Kalu prayed for comfort for Ezea’s family, describing him as a noble man whose legacy would endure.

“As I mourn my dear brother, I take solace in knowing he lived honorably and touched countless lives. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” he prayed.
