Opeyemi Ajibola Named Clerk Of Ekiti State House Of Assembly

Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria – The Ekiti State House of Assembly has appointed Mr Opeyemi Ajibola as its new Clerk, following the retirement of Mrs Titilope Agbede, the first indigenous female clerk of the Assembly.

The appointment was announced on Monday by Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye in a statement issued through his media aide, Mr Babajide Agbeyo.

Ajibola, who becomes the eighth substantive clerk, was selected after what the Speaker described as a rigorous and transparent process among senior officers of the legislative institution.

Aribasoye explained that the procedure complied with Section 9(1) of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Commission Law, 2022, which grants the Speaker authority to appoint a clerk from within the Assembly’s management cadre.

Prior to his elevation, Ajibola served as Deputy Clerk in charge of Legal Matters and had acted as Clerk between May and August 2024.

His appointment, which takes immediate effect, is subject to legislative confirmation, the Speaker added.
