The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has welcomed the appointment of two prominent figures from Osun State to key roles in Nigeria’s Federal Character Commission (FCC), describing it as a vote of confidence in their service and integrity.
In a statement from his palace on Wednesday, the traditional ruler commended President Bola Tinubu for naming former MP Ayo Omidiran as FCC Chair and Eludayo Eluyemi as the state’s representative on the commission.
The Ooni said the pair’s legislative, administrative and grassroots experience would be invaluable to the FCC’s mandate of ensuring fairness and inclusivity across the country’s public service.
He added that their new positions were “not only a call to serve the people of Osun, but a sacred responsibility to the entire nation.”
Omidiran, from Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area, served in the House of Representatives, while Eluyemi is recognised for his contributions to public administration.
