Ondo Records 18,045 New Voters In First Phase Of Continuous Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has registered 18,045 new voters between August 25 and December 10, 2025, during the first phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), disclosed this at a consultation meeting with political party leaders and Civil Society Organisation (CSO) members in Akure on Tuesday. She added that 9,290 voters transferred their registrations within the state, 2,353 corrections were processed, 3,725 cases of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were addressed, and 1,838 uncollected PVCs were retrieved during the period.

Babalola urged political party leaders to intensify voter education and mobilise eligible youths and citizens who have not yet registered or collected their PVCs, stressing that this would enhance inclusive electoral participation and strengthen democratic legitimacy.

She also commended CSOs for their efforts in sensitising and educating citizens throughout the CVR exercise. Mr. Adesanya Olaoluwa, State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), praised INEC’s improvements to the registration process and encouraged broader participation.

Representatives from major political parties, including PDP, APM, AAC, LP, YPP, AA, PRP, NNPP, APP, SDP, Accord, ADC, APGA, Boot, and ADP, attended the meeting.
