Mr Ola Olukoyede, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been recognised at the Nigeria Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) for his exceptional leadership and contributions to national development. EFCC Spokesperson Dele Oyewale announced the honour on Monday in Abuja.
The awards, a collaboration between the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and The Best Strategic Media, were presented at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. The event brought together dignitaries including state governors, ministers, senior public officials, and representatives from the private sector.
Representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, stated that the awards aim to recognise and incentivise outstanding performance in public service. “This initiative identifies and honours individuals who have contributed significantly to national transformation,” he noted.
Olukoyede was selected among 44 chief executives, including governors and heads of MDAs, for demonstrating exemplary performance. The award recognised his leadership in advancing EFCC’s anti-corruption mandate, delivering results in asset recovery, and curbing money laundering.
Significant achievements under his tenure include recoveries running into hundreds of billions of naira and the tracing of major assets. His efforts also contributed to Nigeria’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list in October 2025, reflecting improved regulatory compliance and financial transparency.
Other awardees comprised five state governors, several ministers, and key MDA heads who distinguished themselves through excellent service delivery and national impact.
The recognition of Olukoyede and other leaders underscores the government’s commitment to promoting accountability, efficiency, and professionalism in public service. It also serves as a motivation for public office holders to sustain high standards of performance.
