Okonkwo Vows To Win Anambra For APC, Transform State

Prof Obiora Okonkwo, an Anambra All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, has expressed confidence in winning the Anambra governorship election and bringing the South-East into the APC fold.

Okonkwo made this statement on Tuesday in Abuja after submitting his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the Anambra off-cycle governorship election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the forms qualify him to contest for the APC governorship ticket in the primary election scheduled for April 5.

Okonkwo, who is also the President of the Nigeria-Russia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasised his commitment to repositioning Anambra by addressing key issues such as insecurity, unemployment, and underdevelopment.

He expressed confidence that, by the grace of God, he would emerge as the party’s candidate and eventually win the governorship election set for November 8.

Okonkwo also described his return to the APC as a “homecoming” and vowed to lead the party’s campaign to victory.

He reassured his supporters, stating that with God’s help and the party’s support, the APC would win the election and transform the state.

The aspirant dismissed speculations about a purported agreement between the presidency and Anambra’s incumbent governor to deliver 25 per cent of votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

He called it a “gimmick” and stated that the APC would not fall for such tactics.

He reiterated that the APC’s true goal was to bring lasting change to Anambra and the South-East.(NAN)
