Obasanjo To Launch Key Infrastructure Projects In Zamfara State

Former Nigerian leader Olusegun Obasanjo will visit Zamfara State on Tuesday, 17 June, to inaugurate several major development projects, including the newly renovated Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, the state capital.

The event forms part of activities to commemorate Governor Dauda Lawal’s second year in office. In a statement issued on Monday, the governor’s spokesperson Suleiman Idris confirmed that the hospital had been completely overhauled and now features modern medical technology and infrastructure.

“President Obasanjo will not only open the upgraded hospital but will also commission critical roads within the GRA district of Gusau,” said Idris. “These upgrades are integral to the administration’s ongoing Urban Renewal Campaign.”

Governor Lawal’s two-year term has been marked by a focus on improving public health, education, and urban infrastructure. His government has launched and completed numerous schools, hospitals, and roadworks across the state.

Zamfara, a region long troubled by insecurity, has also seen a boost in security support, with the government providing logistical resources to bolster the fight against rising criminal activities.

The inauguration by Obasanjo, a figure respected across Nigeria and abroad, is seen as a significant endorsement of the progress made in the state under Lawal’s leadership.
