Nigerian cinema audiences are set for a gripping experience this autumn as The Herd, a new Nollywood thriller, hits theatres nationwide on 17 October.
The release date was confirmed by FilmOne Studios, co-producer of the movie alongside Toritori Films, in a post shared on its verified Instagram page. The announcement, which included the official trailer, teased: “Every love story begins with joy… but where will this one lead?”
Directed by actor Etim Effiong in his feature debut, The Herd blends romance, suspense and action. Its storyline follows a couple whose wedding day suddenly descends into chaos, transforming their happiest moment into a desperate fight for survival as dark secrets are exposed.
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Daniel Etim, Mercy Aigbe, Adedimeji Lateef, Deyemi Okanlawon, Kunle Remi, Linda Ejiofor, Genoveva Umeh, Bolaji Ogunmola and Tina Mba. Also appearing are Nollywood veterans Norbert Young, Patrick Doyle and Jaiye Kuti, alongside rising stars such as Emeka Nwagbarocha and Abba A. Zakky.
With its blend of romance and high-stakes drama, The Herd is tipped to be one of Nollywood’s most talked-about cinema releases of 2025.
