Alhaji Sani Danmasani, National Vice Chairman (Northwest) of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has clarified that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, is not its leader in Kano State or nationwide.
Danmasani, in a statement on Monday, said the recent exit of Gov. Ahmed Yusuf from the party does not signal a return of Kwankwaso, who, along with members of his Kwankwasiya Movement, was expelled from the NNPP.
“Our Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, alongside the Dr Agbo Major-led National Working Committee (NWC), are the legitimate leaders of the party,” he said.
He expressed concern that many media outlets continue to refer to Kwankwaso as NNPP leader, despite his expulsion being legally confirmed by both the Abia State High Court and the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja.
Danmasani also explained that administrative delays on INEC’s platform should not be misinterpreted as recognition of Kwankwaso’s leadership. He urged the media to desist from misreporting and called on politicians of integrity to join the party, assuring that internal differences would soon be resolved.
