The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday announced the suspension of all political activities for three days to honour former president Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday in London.
In a statement issued from Kano, the ADC’s Interim National Chairman, Senator David Mark, praised Buhari’s dedication to the Nigerian state, noting his contributions as both a military leader and a civilian president.
“President Buhari was a man of extraordinary discipline and patriotism,” Mark stated. “In his military career, he defended Nigeria’s unity, and as an elected leader, he helped strengthen our democratic framework.”
Mark also called on the Federal Government to permanently honour Buhari’s memory by establishing monuments or institutions that capture his legacy.
He extended the party’s deepest sympathies to Buhari’s family, the federal government, and Nigerians across the country. “We encourage all ADC members and supporters to mark this period of national mourning with dignity and reflection,” he added.
