Nigerian Military Neutralises 10 Insurgents In Fresh Operation In Borno State

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have eliminated 10 more insurgents in a counter-terrorism operation along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis in Borno State, North East Nigeria.

This latest success follows a previous encounter in which over 50 terrorists were neutralised during multiple foiled attacks in the Katarko area of Yobe State and parts of Borno State last Wednesday.

In a statement released on Sunday in Maiduguri, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Lt. Col. Sani Uba, confirmed the development.

“Following the neutralisation of more than 50 terrorists in an earlier encounter at the Katarko axis, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have, in another engagement along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis, neutralised 10 additional insurgents and recovered weapons and equipment,” Uba stated.

He explained that troops from Sector 1, under the 24 Task Force Brigade, conducted a precision night ambush at about 23:50 hours on 25 October 2025. The insurgents were attempting to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis when they were intercepted.

After suffering heavy fire, the attackers diverted towards Dikwa but were ambushed again along the Dikwa–Marte road.

At first light, troops conducted a clearance operation confirming the deaths of 10 insurgents. A search of the area led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition and equipment, including:

Five AK-47 rifles

One PKT machine gun

Three locally-made dane guns

Two fabricated pistols

Five AK-47 magazines loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition

Large quantities of 7.62×54mm linked ammunition and boxes of cartridges

Two motorcycles and two bicycles

A radio set, a dane gun barrel, water flask, raincoat, blanket and assorted charms

Lt. Col. Uba said the Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry, vigilance and tactical efficiency. He added that the success of the operation underscores the effectiveness of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts and reaffirms the military’s commitment to protecting civilians and restoring peace in the North East.
