Nigerian soldiers have killed 17 insurgents, detained 85 suspects and rescued 10 abducted civilians during intensified military operations across the country over the last two days, military sources say.
The operations, conducted in multiple conflict zones, targeted Boko Haram, ISWAP fighters, criminal syndicates and illegal oil traffickers.
According to a security source at Army Headquarters, those arrested include Boko Haram informants, logistical operatives, collaborators, drug peddlers and suspected kidnappers. All rescued hostages are receiving medical care and being officially profiled.
North-East Offensives
Troops under Operation Hadin Kai sustained pressure on insurgent strongholds through Operations Desert Sanity IV and Diligent Search in Borno and Adamawa States.
Soldiers from the 202 and 222 Battalions survived an ambush near Goni Kurmi and Kashomri in Konduga, engaging militants in combat and killing several. In a separate operation, the 195 Battalion, in coordination with the Department of State Services, arrested a key Boko Haram/ISWAP informant and ransom negotiator at the Customs IDP Camp in Jere. Security teams tracked the suspect through intercepted calls and bank transfers.
Troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle snatched by insurgents, rescued two escapees from captivity and detained three men transporting supplies intended for ISWAP camps in Alagarno.
In Adamawa State, 144 Battalion intercepted seven vehicles and nine motorcycles moving 368 bags of cement to suspected terrorist hideouts in Madagali. Meanwhile, forces in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area, repelled an infiltration attempt, backed by air support from the Nigerian Air Force. Militants abandoned ₦4.77 million, six phones and bicycles during their escape along the Maiduguri–Damboa Road.
Operations in Other Regions
In the North-West, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma arrested 69 suspected drug traffickers in Sokoto South and five alleged terrorist collaborators in Gudu. In Zamfara, soldiers evacuated an injured civilian following a terrorist attack along the Faru–Bagabbuzi Road in Maradun.
In North-Central Nigeria, Operation Enduring Peace rescued a kidnapped civilian in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State. A separate mission in Rawaya, Gashish District, resulted in the discovery of two AK-47 rifles, a G3 rifle, a revolver pistol, six magazines and more than 1,200 rounds of ammunition.
Troops under Operation Whirl Stroke detained two suspected kidnappers in Doma, Nasarawa State, and dismantled a terrorist base in Gbagir, Benue State, seizing mobile devices and customised vehicle plates.
In the oil-rich South-South region, Operation Delta Safe intercepted a wooden boat transporting 840 litres of illegally refined kerosene in Omoku, Rivers State, arresting one suspect. Another patrol in Ughelli North, Delta State, seized a vehicle carrying 2,500 litres of illicit condensate.
Across all operations, the military recovered 15 weapons, 21 magazines, over 1,200 rounds of ammunition, cash and other supplies.
The Nigerian Army praised its personnel for their resilience and maintained that it remains committed to denying terrorists and criminal elements the freedom to operate across the nation.
