The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has urged the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs to adopt a unified and proactive approach in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.

During a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence in Abuja on Tuesday, the delegation, led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, met with the minister to discuss strengthening coordination within the Armed Forces.

A statement by Mati Ali, Personal Assistant to the Minister on Media and Publicity, confirmed that the meeting was attended by Lt.-Gen. Oluyede, Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Adm. Idi Abbas (Chief of Naval Staff), and AVM Sunday Aneke (Chief of the Air Staff).

Ali said the gathering demonstrated the minister’s resolve to build a unified defence leadership guided by trust, teamwork, and shared national objectives.

“It marks the beginning of a renewed effort towards developing a coordinated military strategy and decisive action plan for safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and national interests, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s vision,” he added.
